Overview
Simple, Automated Mesh and NURBS Surface Models from 3D Scanners

With Rapidform XOS, you can now process raw 3D scan data into high quality meshes and NURBS surface models in just a few minutes. Automated wizard based tools step you through the optimization of point clouds or meshes from any 3D scanner. Once the scan data is optimized, you can export high quality meshes. Or you can use XOS's one button autosurfacing technology to make watertight NURBS surface models, which you can export as IGS or STP files.

The Right Software for Surface Based Reverse Engineering
As the sister product of Rapidform XOR, XOS has the same extensive professional-level toolset for taking in data from any 3D scanner and creating polygon mesh models and NURBS surface models quickly. These models are perfect for rapid prototyping, analysis, rendering, and any other application that doesn't require parametric, editable CAD solids (for editable CAD models, see Rapidform XOR).

Key features of Rapidform XOS:

• liveScan direct control of popular 3D scanners
• Support for over 20 scan data formats
• Triangulation, alignment & merging of multiple scan shots
• Hole filling, smoothing and optimization of meshes
• Texture & vertex color editing for color 3D scans
• Automatic NURBS surfacing
• NURBS curve modeling, including automatic feature line extraction
• Interactive NURBS surfacing, for specific surface layout using curves
• Support for Various Workflows
Rapidform XOS supports multiple methods to convert 3D scan data into the right format for downstream use.
Some common workflows that XOS supports are:
- 3D scan data → optimized polygon mesh → output to STL, OBJ, etc.
- 3D scan data → optimized polygon mesh → NURBS surfaces → output to IGS or STP
- 3D scan data → optimized polygon mesh → extract design intent elements
(revolve axes, pipe centerlines, extrusion vectors, etc.) → output to CAD as reference geometries

World's 1stAutomated Scan Data Processing with the Mesh Buildup Wizard™
XOS's Mesh Buildup Wizard makes the processing of 3D scan data into optimized meshes an easy job. The wizard steps you through the process of removing unwanted data from scans, aligning & merging multiple scan shots into a single mesh, filling holes, smoothing and refining the mesh. The Mesh Buildup Wizard even uses XOS's powerful automated alignment technology so you don't have to pick matching points on each scan shot.

Reverse Engineering within Allowable Tolerance - Remove doubt with Accuracy Analyzer
XOS's patent-pending Accuracy Analyzer technology gives you instant feedback while processing 3D scan data. Every step of the way, while aligning, smoothing, generating surfaces, etc. you can see color maps to ensure you aren't deviating too much from the original scan data. Using Accuracy Analyzer means you can be sure that your finished mesh or NURBS surface models are accurate, without having to check them in another program.

Comprehensive Feature Set for Point Cloud, Polygon and Color Texture Processing
In addition to its Scan-to-NURBS modeling features, Rapidform XOS produces Class-A meshes from raw scan data. The collection of tools in Rapidform XOS offer fast and accurate optimization & preparation of point clouds and polygons from any 3D scanning device. The extensive cleanup tools easily remove scan errors, automatically find scanning direction for unorganized data sets, intelligently reduce data size, triangulate, align and merge multiple scans into optimized polygon mesh models.

Brand new Rewrap function
Direct texture (color) editing
Point cloud can be processed in one place
Improved curvature continuity in mesh hole filling

Scan Directly into Rapidform with liveScan
With Rapidform's liveScan technology, you can scan directly inside XOS using several popular 3D scanners, including:

• Creaform Handyscan (including EXAscan and REVscan)
• Faro ScanArm
• Konica Minolta Vivid 9i, 910 & 900
• Kreon
• Leica T-Scan
• Perceptron V5, V4i & V4 (including Romer arms)
• Z Corp ZScanner

For portable arm based scanners, liveScan also supports hard probing to define reference geometries for alignment and other uses.

Complete NURBS Surface Fitting and Curve Creation Toolset
Rapidform XOS has all the tools necessary for NURBS model creation from scan data. It is a powerful surface based reverse engineering application, at a lower cost than alternative NURBS surface reverse engineering tools. Fully automatic one button surfacing makes the job of quick conversion from mesh to NURBS a simple one. And when the application requires exact surface layout, XOS has easy to use interactive surfacing tools that give you complete control over surface layout. And if you need CAD solid models, an easy upgrade to Rapidform XOR is available.

XOS also shares XOR's advanced curve modeling capabilities, so you can create curve networks that follow the features of scanned parts. Cross sections, virtual edges and many other powerful curve modeling tools are included.
