Reverse Design

Rapidform offers the most comprehensive technology to take 3D scan data and transform it into high quality, usable and parametric 3D models for a wide variety of reverse engineering applications. It is the only software that is built specifically to bring in 3D scan data and create watertight polygon mesh models, fit freeform NURBS surfaces onto the model (either automatically or with the precision of user-designed layouts), or create parametric solid CAD models directly from 3D scan data. No CAD
Reverse engineering is a powerful tool for generating a CAD model from the 3D scan data of a physical part that lacks documentation or has changed from the original CAD design of the part. The process of digitizing a part and creating a parametric CAD model from 3D scan data is less time consuming and provides greater accuracy than manually measuring the part and designing the part from scratch in CAD. Rapidform XOR is the only software solution that is designed to create fully parametric CAD models from 3D scan data. Once a part has been designed in Rapidform XOR, the model can be exported to a variety of CAD applications with full modeling history including SolidWorks, Pro/E and UGS NX.
Clay to CAD Creating a prototype of a part from a clay model provides manufacturers with a physical model that they can freely and easily modify and perfect by hand before creating a precise model for manufacturing. Once the clay model has been scanned and the data imported into Rapidform XOR, a parametric CAD model of the part can be created. If the clay model contains freeform features that are integral to the part, the hybrid surface and solid modeling capabilities of Rapidform XOR allow for the creation of parametric CAD models from scan data that contains freeform features. The CAD model can then be used for a variety of applications including mass production, design modification and analysis.
Benchmarking Rapidform XOR allows users to create a parametric CAD model from the 3D scan data of any part. This is particularly useful for those who require a CAD model for a part that does not have a CAD model or for a part that may have changed from the part's original CAD design. The CAD model provides engineers with a greater understanding of the design specifications of the part. Once a CAD model has been generated from the 3D scan data, engineers can use the model for a variety of applications including analysis, machining and further modification in SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and UGS NX.
Geometry Recovery
Tools, dies and other parts can lose their defining features through continued use or can deviate from the original CAD model through modifications made to the manufactured part. Digitizing the part can allow the user to digitally archive the part, generate a CAD model for future manufacturing, or to update the original CAD model to reflect the changes made to the part after it has been manufactured.
Quick CAE Rapidform XOR possesses the capabilities to create an optimized polygon mesh model that meets the specific requirements for executing CAE analyses. There is a fully automatic and state-of-the-art command in Rapidform XOR that is capable of converting randomly configured triangular mesh models to a CFD functional one that satisfies application specific criteria such as edge length, mesh size, apex angle and so on. Rapidform XOR also offers an interactive toolset for precisely modifying the mesh structure while checking its quality for CAE processes.
Handcrafted Products Parts and products are often created by hand to meet dimensional or aesthetic requirements that cannot be met by traditional manufacturing methods. Once a physical model of the product has been created, it can be digitized and modeled as a parametric CAD model, a NURBS surface model or a hybrid of the two for those products that contain both prismatic and freeform features. Once a digital model of the part has been generated, it can be used for a variety of applications including rapid prototyping, machining or for further processing in a variety of CAD applications including SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and UGS NX.
Medical & Dental 3D scanning technology and Rapidform XOR combine to offer a powerful solution that meets the specific needs of dental technicians to create better treatment options. Rapidform XOR can generate extremely accurate NURBS surface models from the 3D scan data that can be used for analysis or manufacturing.
