3D scanning technology presents an immense opportunity to create digital copies of real world objects such as cultural heritages, and Rapidform is simply the fastest, most comprehensive technology to move from the 3D scanner into useful data. It offers the most comprehensive set of tools available to ensure an accurate, detailed and easily stored, shared & measured 3D model.

Data Set Optimization
With Rapidform, users can quickly clean up data sets, remove extraneous data, intelligently fill holes/shadow areas, smooth rough data and reduce overall data size. The software offers the option of precise control during each of these processes, while automatically calculating the most appropriate values, which users may choose to work with.

Texture/Color Attaching and Editing
Rapidform also offers the ability to attach 2D digital images or to paint any colors with 3D painting tools directly onto 3D polygon mesh models, giving users the ability to make any 3D scanner a color scanner. Detailed photos or any other color information can be mapped and painted onto the model, and exported as an attached texture map or vertex color.

Color-aware Polygon Operation
The original color information obtained from 3D scanners accurately preserved in any process of polygon modeling and optimization.

Point Cloud Alignment
Rapidform aligns multiple point clouds (i.e. scan shots) without the need for targets or other alignment tools. Using either surface geometry or volumetric information, the software accurately aligns polygon meshes or raw point clouds. Rapidform can align and merge several point clouds, while removing redundant points between each cloud automatically.

Format Conversion
Utilize data from 3D scanning in more ways by converting it into formats usable in other applications. Rapidform creates high quality polygon meshes of any density. Using intelligent decimation tools, large data sets can be reduced for easy handling in other applications while maintaining their original geometry. Rapidform can also be used to fit NURBS curves and surfaces to 3D models, to create IGES or STEP files for CAD and other applications.

Data compression and Internet Sharing
All the result 3D data from Rapidform can be effectively compressed down to 3% file size to share on the internet. Rapidform supports both Web3D polygon model(ICF format) and point-streaming model(RPS format) with a free plug-in for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
