INUS to Unveil New Rapidform Software Releases at DMS

Seoul, South Korea – June 25, 2007, INUS Technology, Inc., the developer of Rapidform® 3D scanning software, today announced that it will debut two major software releases at the 18th Design Engineering & Manufacturing Solutions Expo(DMS) in Tokyo Japan, June 27 – 29, 2007. With the launch of Rapidform XOS™2/Scan and XOR™2/Redesign, the company provides an extensive list of new features and functions, and it has made the two software packages independent, standalone applications.

According to Calvin Hur, INUS Technology’s Vice President of Marketing and Global Sales, “We have decoupled XOS2 and XOR2 to make Rapidform more affordable, and we have increased the value with new features that our customers have requested.” The requests include easier interfaces and new, automated functions that simplify and expedite many common procedures. “Our customers now have a complete 3D scanning software solution whether they choose XOS2 for mesh and surface generation or XOR2 for parametric solid models,” stated Calvin.

With the introduction of Rapidform.dll, software developers can incorporate Rapidform’s comprehensive feature set within their applications to process 3D scanning data or add sophisticated 3D functions. The SDK includes virtually all of rapidform2006′s tools for working with massive point clouds and triangular meshes, as well as advanced NURBS surfacing technology, geometry fitting routines and 3D inspection functions.

Rapidform XOS2/Scan incorporates functionality from XOR2/Redesign for the processing of point cloud data and the creation of watertight meshes and high-quality NURBS surfaces. Conversely, XOR2 provides point cloud acquisition tools, such as LiveScan™, and cleaning, color editing and texturing functions that are components of XOS2. The releases also share many of the new software advances.

Calvin stated, “Version two of Rapidform XOS and XOR include improvements in automatic surface generation. With a few button clicks, customers can create watertight, well-organized meshes from raw scan data.” He also noted that a request from a leading Japanese automotive company resulted in an automated mesh optimization tool. “Both XOS2 and XOR2 have the ability to convert noisy, raw scan data into a CAE-ready fine mesh structure with the click of just one button,” said Calvin.

Customers in Japan specified the bulk of the new releases’ features and functions. Calvin stated, “Applying high technology and striving for manufacturing perfection are hallmarks of Japanese companies. They are seeking advanced solutions, which makes their requirements quite demanding and very specific. When we deliver software that satisfies these customers, we know that it will be accepted by the rest of the world.” Presently, Rapidform is the dominant 3D scanning software package in Japan, and all of the major Japanese automotive OEMs have adopted the software.

Rapidform XOR2/Redesign will begin shipping on July 1, 2007.
Rapidform XOS2/Scan is scheduled for shipment in early August. Despite the
significant additions, pricing for both programs remains unchanged.
