Rapidform offers powerful new functionalities for civil engineering and architectural applications involving 3D scanning. The software's advanced point cloud clean up and polygon meshing functionality allow data sets from large format 3D scanners to be converted into 3D models useful in downstream applications (including advanced photo-realistic rendering and civil & architectural CAD applications). The software's ability to import large data sets (multiple millions of points), align several scans together, and export in a variety of industry-standard formats makes it an important component in civil engineering and architectural scanning.

Optimized for Speed and Massive Data Capacity
With Rapidform, users can quickly clean up larger-sized 3D scan data sets, remove extraneous data, intelligently fill holes/shadow areas, smooth rough data and reduce overall data size. The software offers the option of precise control during each of these processes, while automatically calculating the most appropriate values, which users may choose to work with.

Point Cloud Alignment
Rapidform aligns point clouds without the need for targets or other alignment tools. Using either surface geometry or volumetric information, the software accurately aligns polygon meshes or raw point clouds. Rapidform can align and merge several point clouds, while removing redundant points between each cloud automatically.

Format Conversion
Utilize the data from 3D scanning in more ways by converting the scan data into formats usable in other applications. Rapidform creates high quality polygon meshes of any density(state-of-art point-to-polygon conversion of terrestrial 3D scan data). Using intelligent decimation tools, large data sets can be reduced for easy handling in other applications while maintaining their original geometry.

Dimension Analysis
The various dimension analysis jobs using optimized scan data can be easily carried out with Rapidform's unparalleled dimension analysis tools. Predefined dimension template is a key functionality to automatically output architectural analysis report for civil & architectural design. It also offers deviation and interference analysis between reference data and 3D scan data.

Automatic Geometry Feature Extraction
For the plant analysis application using terrestrial 3D scanning technology, it offers an automated geometry feature extraction with user-defined section shape library. In addition, various intelligent sectioning(slicing) tools are very useful for the elevation contouring job.
